Greetings from the sandy shores of Copacabana!
I’ve been settling in nicely down here in Brazil, and I’ve already found and bought yarn! Alright, I guess I’m ready to pack up and head out, LOL!

Nah, Rio is a beautiful city, even in the depths of “winter” (read: average of 72 and sunny every day), so I think I’ll stay awhile. I’ve already gotten my week of “settling in” out of the way, and was then down another week with an awful cold, so I got loads of knitting done and I’m nearly done with my wool and alpaca winter skirt! Just in time for the 4th of July!
I’ve investigated one of the local yarn shops, and have a few more on my list. There are tons of acrylic yarns available, with the next most common fiber content being cotton. I do love how the shops seem to be exploding with supplies and materials!

I did find some Malabrigo wool yarns, and bought some sock yarn and needles to try out some of the MANY sock patterns I’ve been collecting in my Ravelry notebook. I’ve made exactly 1.5 pairs of socks in my lifetime (2.5 if we include my disastrous attempt at crocheting a pair back in my college days!), and while the first pair went surprisingly well, the second pair was a disaster and nearly put me off of sock-knitting for life! I am, however, determined to give it another shot! I also found a pattern that has a beginner-friendly cable repeat, so even if the sock is a bust, I’ll still learn how to knit cables!

Finished Projects
The Jaunty Skirt is on the VERGE of going here! I’m so close, damnit!
Current WIPs:
Jaunty Skirt
Final color achieved! Final color achieved! I’ve got just a few more rows, then I need to do the bottom trim and find some elastic to complete the waistband, and I’ll have a FINISHED SKIRT!! I’m so excited!!

Up Next:
I’m hanging out down here in the tropics for another month or so, and then headed west to Chile for a bit. See you soon!
