Crossing Borders

Name: Katie

Current Location: Montreal, Canada / Laconia, NH

Hello Again!

I went on a minor cross-border adventure over the Thanksgiving holidays to visit my family in New Hampshire, a mere 4-hour drive from Montreal. Crossing into the US was the more exciting bit – I’ve never had my trunk searched trying to get into my own country. This is all very normal. Nothing to see here.

Driving through the White Mountains was beautiful! I wish I had photos, but I’m not very comfortable behind the wheel on the best of days, so I didn’t want to try taking a photo while driving.

Thanksgiving with my family was fun! I hid out at my sister-in-law’s house and didn’t tell my parents I was coming, so I got to surprise them on Thanksgiving day. They were very happy to see me 🙂

I also got to see a LYS called Lamb’s Ear Yarns, which is tragically closing Dec 31. I got some lovely yarns there that I plan to use to make a cowl and some fingerless mitts where I can practice brioche knitting and cables.

Current WIPs:

Squishy Cowl

No progress made here, because I’m frantically working on Christmas gifts for others.

Jaunty Skirt

Technically there’s been a little progress here, but it’s hard to tell with the dark yarn. I have finished the waistband and reached the top of the skirt itself, again, difficult to tell with such dark yarn.

Vortex “Shawl” (read: “blanket”)

DONE AND BLOCKED!! The recipient of this blanket doesn’t have social media, so I’m not worried about her seeing this before she gets it. My blocking clearly needs some work…

Everywear Sweater

The body is done, and I’m working my way down the sleeves!

Wedding Blanket (mystery pattern!)

I’ve started a mosaic blanket, which is going to be a wedding gift for a friend who DOES read my blog posts, so no photos of this one.

Up Next:

Heading south again for the year-end holidays to NH and DC, and then back to my beloved Montreal for a few more months!

I’m enjoying all of the snow up here in the frozen north. I hope you all are enjoying the weather in your own parts of the world!  ❤
